FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How long will it take to ship my purchased art work?

When the custom made order is made, it will be dispatched within 36 hours. Then the shipment is on it's way to your space:

In Europe: 7-14 days.
Outside Europe: 14-18 days.
And we offer FREE Global Shipping, because nobody likes to pay for shipping.
You will receive, after purchase, an email from us to doublecheck your physical adres so that the shipment can begin. Also, we will ask for you wallet adres so that we can transfer the NFT to you.
Is the artwork signed, dated and numbered?

Yes, absolutely. To acknowledge your purchase with the respect it deserves, we added multiple extra's to make it legit and special:

>> The 5/5 and 3/3 art works have a certificate of authenticity which shows the date, numbering, autograph and art work details. There is also a thank you letter included. 3/3 buyers are also the first to be informed before new artworks are released.

Also - and very important - , when your artwork is ordered, it will have a subtle added encryption with the NFT code (token ID), the date, the autograph and the numbering. This makes sure the physical art is connected to the NFT for double-authentication that it's the real deal.

>> The 1/1 art works are handsigned on the fine art print itself, and also dated and numbered by the Artist self (a video will be made of this moment). The NFT code will also be added to verify the NFT and connect the physical art piece. There is also a thank you letter included. 1/1 buyers are also the first to be informed before new artworks are released.

Is the art work framed?

Yes, you’ll receive the complete package, ready to hang right away. Just sending out prints without anything in a canister doesn't feel premium. And it's a hassle to find a fitting frame and frame it. We made it easy and to the point and found the most perfect fit.

The black oak Hamburg 40mm frame comes with a white passe-partout, offering a classic, premium, and sophisticated look. This frame is truly gallery-quality!

What quality is the glass?

We curated all types of glass, and decided to go all-in on the best quality. So no cheap acrylic or cheap glass for these frames, but museum quality glass with no reflections. They cost a whole lot more, but it's worth the investment. People should be in awe of this piece, and that is made possible with this superb high-quality paper, frame and glass.

The shipment is done with the best partners to ensure your frame gets shipped in the best protective materials.

What paper is the print made of?

There are an insane amount of options to chose from, but there is only one that is the absolute best. The most premium option - and the most expensive photographic paper - is by far the FujiFlex Crystal Archive DP II. It meets the most demanding standards. It is crisp, brilliant, and the colors are luminous.

The paper is made in Germany, has 75 year brilliance, and is resistant to ripping and yellowing. It features a UV-protective laminate and has a stunning pearlescent effect with exceptional clarity. You will be in awe.

This art work will be a talking point in your space. Guaranteed.

Is there only one size?

Yes, currently, we have the magnificent 105x70 cm / 41x28 inches, which is impressively big, but also not too big. We have carefully curated and found the perfect size to ensure you have no loss of quality in the picture and maintain the most beautiful clarity and colors, and still have a worthy sized art work hanging in your space that (guaranteed) captivates visitors.

This type of exclusive art work should not be hanged in a small frame. It deserves the attention and space it needs.

Including the frame, the full size measurement is 118.7x83,7 cm / 46.7 x 32.9 inches.

See our Inspiration Gallery for a glimpse of the fine art in your space.

(for vertical photos, it's 70x105 / 28x41 inches)

Can I get another size? And a different photograph?

No. We only offer one size to maintain exclusivity and authenticity. But we can print other photos (from the portfolio or License library) that are not in the shop right now, in a different size if you like than these from the limited edition collection. Those will be Open Editions for a smaller price (4000,-). This will not include an NFT. Email us at hello@marcusmusashi.com

What are the rates for these exclusive art works?

The starting rate for these editions:

5/5: $10.000
3/3: $25.000
1/1 : $250.000

The last one of every 5/5 edition doubles in price: $20.000
The last one of every 3/3 edition doubles in price: $50.000

If an edition is sold out, you could buy the fine art and NFT on the art market where prices can increase significantly.

Rates in general may increase in 2025 and beyond.

Will there be a sale?

No. Never.

We do give a 250 dollar bonuscode if you subscribe to the Marcus Musashi newsletter that you can use with your purchases.

How much of the net proceeds go to charity?

I pledged to donate 10% of the net proceeds to the children and elderly of Bali. This magical island has a warm place in my heart and that is mostly thanks to the Balinese that have welcomed me with open arms. But reality is that many are severely impoverished and really need our help. Read all about the charity pledge and how you can help.

Your purchase truly makes a change.

Do I own the copyright as well?

You will own the exclusive art work and the NFT, but the copyright remains with the artist. The artist and the buyer cannot sell anymore art works and NFTs beyond these editions in any shape or form. The artist can use the images to engage in photography awards and for promotions on his channels. The artist can also use the photographs for future photo books, but not for a gallery where they sell physical prints of these selected limited edition art works.

The art works are extremely scarce and exclusive, and cannot be replicated in any shape or form. Legal action will be taken if these artworks are being used beyond the buyer-seller agreement.

    NFT?

Read all about NFTs on this dedicated page.

The NFT, the non-fungible-token, is a form of digital proof of you owning the art. It's digital certificate of ownership. The blockchain verifies your ownership and therefore it can not be disputed.

The NFT is a valuable asset for art collectors, as it can be easily resold online. The combination of the NFT with our limited fine art frames creates a rare and unique offering that will attract future buyers.

If you buy the artworks of Marcus Musashi, you can include the NFT if you would like. If not, the studio of Marcus Musashi will keep them in the archive. If needed later, we will send the NFT your way. But it would be better for you as art collector to obtain these NFTs for future reselling.

Need to some help with this subject? hello@marcusmusashi.com

When do I get the NFT?

After purchase on the Marcus Musashi webstore, you will receive an email from our team to exchange your newly bought NFT. The frame and print will then also be made and shipped to you. In this email, we will doublecheck your physical adres, and make sure we have the right wallet adres so that we can send you the NFT.

When your artwork is ordered, it will have a subtle added encryption with the NFT code, the date, the autograph and the numbering. This makes sure the physical art is connected to the NFT for double-authentication that it's the real deal.

You will also receive a letter with a certificate of authenticity which shows the date, numbering, autograph and art work details. There is also a thank you letter included.

    5% NFT Bonus

The Artist also owns a 5% stake into the reselling of the art works. Every time the NFT gets sold, the artist receives 5% of the selling price.

    Damaged?

In the unlikely event the frame arrives significantly damaged, we will send a replacement free of charge. But because we have exclusive limited edition art with unique authentication (the NFT + unique code imprinted on the frame that connect the physical art to the NFT), we need the damaged framework back before we can send a newly made one. Thank you for your understanding. The costs of shipping it back will be on us.
To report shipping defects or damage, please notify us within 10 days of delivery. Include the shipping receipt and photographic evidence so we can assess whether the damage occurred during shipping. Contact us at hello@marcusmusashi.com
    No returns?
These art works are exclusively made when ordered, and are pricy to make, to package and ship. When the order is made and payment is done, we do not accept returns or give refunds.
No responsibility is assumed for mis-delivery due to incorrect information (like the address) supplied by a customer.
    Different colors than my smartphone?
You should know that the colors on your computer screen or smartphone might not look the same as they do on our actual product, and we can't promise that any online image will exactly match the colors on the final product. But what we do promise is that we deliver one-of-a-kind exclusive Marcus Musashi fine art photographs on the the highest quality paper, frame, and glass. You will love the final product.
    Can I license a photo?
Marcus has many hundreds of excellent travel and culture related photos for licensing. The limited edition art works are not available for licensing, but there are many excellent photographs available for commercial use. See the License page for more options.
    Duties and Taxes?
Just a heads up: if there are any import taxes or duties on your purchase, it's up to you to handle them. Make sure to check out the customs rules in your country to figure out what might apply. By purchasing through this store, you agree to indemnify myself in full of any duties or taxes.
It's a good idea to reach out to your local customs office or the right government agencies to get the scoop on any potential fees for your order. Tip: visit duty calculation websites such as www.simplyduty.com/import-calculator/.
    Sales Tax?

Clients within the EU have to pay accordingly to the taxes of their country. Marcus Musashi Studio (Wabi Sabi Media) is located in The Netherlands, a EU country.
Outside Europe, no additional sales tax will be applied. You, as our client, are solely responsible for any state, local, or federal sales taxes, VAT, excise duties, import fees, or other applicable taxes. Typically, if the seller is obligated to collect these taxes from buyers, they will be included in your order. However, if for any reason these taxes are not included and the seller is subsequently required to pay them to a tax authority, we will seek prompt and accurate reimbursement from you.

How do I keep the art in a pristine state?
Keep the frame and glass clean by carefully cleaning it with a soft dry cloth. Keep it high enough so that kids don't smash into it while playing.
It is advisable to keep your fine art away from direct sunlight, high humidity, and elevated temperatures. Exposure to temperatures above 28 degrees celcius / 82°F, direct sunlight, or humidity levels over 65% may result in damage to your image, such as fading of the photograph or the formation of bubbles on the mounted image.
Use your common sense, keep this art work in pristine state so that it's value can grow exponentially.

And for your NFTs, make sure your wallet is safe and secure at all times.

How can buying art be beneficial for my taxes?

Purchasing art not only enriches your living space but can also offer potential tax advantages. Here are some key points to consider:
    1. Investment Potential: Art is often regarded as a valuable investment. If you purchase art and later sell it for a profit, you might be subject to capital gains tax. However, depending on your country’s regulations, art can be exempt from capital gains tax or taxed at a lower rate. For instance, in the Netherlands, while there isn't a direct capital gains tax, you may benefit from a favorable tax treatment on art investments.
    2. Tax Deductions for Donations: If you choose to donate your art to a museum or a charitable organization, you may be eligible for a tax deduction. This is particularly common in the United States, where you can deduct the fair market value of the donated artwork from your income tax, allowing you to contribute to the arts while benefiting financially.
    3. Possible VAT Refunds: In many regions, including the Netherlands, the VAT (Value Added Tax) on art purchases can be reclaimable, especially if you're buying art for business purposes. This means you can invest in art while potentially recovering part of your investment through tax deductions.
    4. Estate and Gift Tax Planning: Art can play a significant role in your estate planning. Transferring valuable art pieces to heirs or beneficiaries can sometimes minimize estate and gift taxes. Proper planning can ensure that your art collection remains in the family while managing tax liabilities.
    5. Diverse Portfolio: Investing in art diversifies your financial portfolio. Art tends to appreciate over time, providing a hedge against inflation and market volatility. As art collectors gain recognition, their pieces can appreciate in value, creating a unique investment opportunity.

    Why invest in art?

Investing in art is not only about financial gain; it's about passion, culture, and expression. Here are some compelling reasons to start your art collection today:
    • Emotional Connection: Art allows you to connect with your emotions and express your individuality. Owning a unique piece can bring joy and inspiration to your everyday life.
    • Cultural Investment: Supporting artists and the art community fosters creativity and culture. Your purchase helps artists thrive and encourages the continuation of artistic expression.
    • Tangible Asset: Unlike stocks and bonds, art is a physical asset you can display and enjoy in your home or office. It's a beautiful way to enhance your space while making a smart investment.
    • Building Relationships: Engaging with artists and other collectors can create valuable connections and community. Art events and exhibitions provide opportunities to network and learn more about the art world.

By buying and selling art, you're not just acquiring pieces for your collection; you're making a thoughtful investment in your financial future while enriching your life with beauty and culture.

Start exploring our collection today and discover the unique artworks that resonate with you!
